The Blue Bunny Bookstore and Walden Pond Press (the Children's Publishing Division of Walden Media, producers of such films as THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA and BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA) invite teachers of middle-grade fiction, especially in grades 5-7, to participate in a free "book club." Teachers will read pre-publication editions of forthcoming children's literature and gather to discuss the work's merit.
The first group will meet on Thursday evening, September 29th from 7-9pm at The Blue Bunny Bookstore in Dedham Square to share reactions to the upcoming title Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursu. Walden Pond Press will provide the participants with advance reader copies of the book (to be published in September) and Walden Media's VP of Education and Professional Development, Dr. Randy Testa, Ed.D., will facilitate our discussion, gather feedback, discuss reactions to Breadcrumbs, and provide potential lesson plans. The meeting will include a Q&A Skype session with the author. Free parking is available across the street at the public parking lot on Eastern Avenue.
This program is part of Walden Pond Press's ongoing effort to generate feedback from students, educators, and parents to help build the strongest possible list of books for middle-grade readers. The "book club" is free to participants, professional development points will be given, and refreshments will be served! To receive professional development points, please read the book prior to participating in the club, come prepared to discuss it, and stay for the full 2 hour period (we cannot grant PDPs to anyone who leaves early).
Due to space considerations, the group will be limited to 16. Please email or call to reserve your advance readers' copy of Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursu and RSVP to the educators' meeting on Thurs. Sept. 29th. 781-493-6568 or janet@bluebunnybooks.com
