The 1st Annual James G. Police Memorial Wiffle Ball Classic will be held August 28, 2010 at Rustcraft Field, in Dedham, MA. The Memorial Classic has been created in memory of James (Jim) Police, a teacher and wrestling coach at Dedham High School for 32 years. Proceeds from The Memorial Classic will benefit the James G. Police Memorial Scholarship fund, an academic scholarship established by the Police family which benefits a Dedham High School wrestler who plans to attend a four-year college.
The infamous Vince Lombardi once wrote, "A coach takes a player where he can't take himself." As the founder and successful head coach of the Dedham High School wrestling program, Coach Police was an inspiration to many a Dedham athlete, and pushed his students and players to places they never dreamed possible. The James G. Police Memorial Scholarship Fund provides student-athletes with an opportunity to continue with both their academic and athletic careers in college.
Wiffle ball is a fun, easy to play, no frills game that Coach Police loved to play with his students during gym class. The tournament will also feature lunch for participants, t-shirts, music, and an after party and trophy presentation at a local bar.
