Dedham Girls Shutout by Weymouth

Playing the second of three games this week, the Marauders girls soccer team dropped an away game to Weymouth 2-0.

Weymouth scored once in the first half and once in the second half.

The Marauder offense couldn't get much going, and managed six shots, said coach Don Savi.

Dedham will play rival Norwood on Thursday to wrap up a busy week of soccer.

Dedham Boys Suffer Second Big Loss

Just days after suffering a 7-0 drubbing against Wellesley at home, the Dedham boys soccer team met the same fate Tuesday agaisnt Weymouth at Fairbanks Park.

A natural hat trick by Zak Stuart, a Wildcat senior, in the first half doomed the Marauders, who couldn't generate much of anything on offense. Dedham lost 8-0.

Dedham was without three starters due to injury, which forced coach Paul Podolski to use more of his bench that he wanted to.

For Podolski, it came down to effort and hustle. He said his team won about 15 percent of 50-50 balls, something that will need to change when they play Norwood on Thursday.

"We need to try to make sure we get the ball, and once we do, we need to control the ball," Podolski said.

The key to breaking its scoring slump is to move without the ball and ball control.

Dedham allowed one quick goal to the Wildcats, and then settled down for most of the first half - until a string of four goals in 10 minutes broke their backs.

"Weymouth is a good team," Podolski said. "They took advantage of our mistakes."
