In Store for Dedham This Week: School Begins, Selectmen to Meet

With one new school opening, and another beginning with a bunch of questions to be answered, it will be a busy week for students.

The Rashi School will fill its new classrooms for the first time today, and with Dedham public schools back in session Wednesday, the Avery School will begin to implement its plans to turn math scores around will work.

At the schools, it is a full slate of games on the fields as almost all the teams get underway between Tuesday and Saturday. Patch will provide as many results as possible, and coaches are encouraged to submit scores to us.

The Dedham School Committee plans to convene Wednesday evening at Town Hall, when MCAS scores probably will land on the agenda.

The next night, the Board of Selectmen will meet. Following interviews for a new police chief in August, the board could confirm a new chief Thursday night. Former chief Mike Weir stepped down in June.

Besides Dedham football kicking off at Braintree on Saturday, the library will hold a two-day book sale beginning at 9 a.m.
