Dedham Boy's Soccer Fights, Can't Hold Milton

The Dedham boy's soccer team just needs to work on two things coach Paul Podolski said: defending corners and free kicks and compiling a strong 80-minute performance.

Both doomed the Marauders on Wednesday against Milton as they suffered a 4-1 loss to drop to 1-2 in Sullivan Rule games.

After a scoreless first half, Milton scored first on Dedham junior keeper Anthony Valentino.

Minutes later, Dedham sophomore striker Santiago Alvarez ripped a grass-cutter from the top of the 18-yard box to knot the game. Chris Zazzara was credited with an assist.

With less than 20 minutes to play, the Wildcats scored off a restart on a header to make it 2-1 and then piled on with two goals in the final minutes, Podolski said.

"We need to do a better job in the league," Podolski said in a phone interview.

Dedham will host Westwood in the finals of the Needham Bank Tournament on Saturday at 7 p.m. at .
