Man Hospitalized In Dedham Hit-And-Run, Police Say

DEDHAM, MA — A pedestrian was injured Wednesday evening after being struck by a driver who left the scene on Needham Street, police said.

Dedham’s emergency crews received a 911 call shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday reporting a pedestrian struck near 530 Needham St., Police Chief Michael J. D’Entremont told Patch. Emergency responders found a 38-year-old man conscious and alert with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The man was taken to a local hospital for further treatment. The vehicle continued toward Bridge Street without stopping, police said.

About 20 minutes later, a relative of the vehicle’s driver called the dispatch center to ask whether there had been any reports of a deer being struck, according to Chief D’Entremont.

Officers responded to the driver’s residence and towed the suspected vehicle to the Dedham Public Safety Building for processing. Police have identified the driver but did not release the person’s name or announce any charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
