Movies, Wiffle Ball, Music Fill Dedham's Weekend

Looking for something free to do this weekend? Here is the rundown.

Looking for something to do for the final weekend of summer for most families? Here is what to look out for:

  • Free outdoor movie at the Dedham Community House. The DCH and Donahue Real Estate will show "The Rookie" Friday night at 7 p.m. on the front lawn of the DCH.
  • For a fitting end to August, trek down Saturday to Fairbanks Park to watch the first James G. Police Memorial Wiffle Ball Tournament. Teams will compete in the classic summertime game while raising money to establish a college scholarship for Dedham High School wrestlers.
  • If it's music you're looking for, head to Norwood for the continuation of the Sunday evening Concerts on the Common. The "Olde Kids on the Block" will perform on Norwood's common on the corner of Washington and Nahatan streets.
  • Late-night moviegoers may want to visit the Dedham Community Theatre for a free showing of "Letters to God" at 9 p.m. Sunday, hosted by Allin Congregational and St. Luke's churches. Attendees are invited to bring one non-perishable food item for donation to the Dedham Food Pantry.
