New Music for ALS Research

Local singer-songwriter Joe Rich releases "Sex on the Beach" and "Dude Nah" to raise money for the Pete Frates #3 Fund for ALS research.

Dedham, MA – Local singer-songwriter and Dedham resident Joe Rich has recently released twonew original recordings in an effort to raise money for the Pete Frates #3Fund, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. The new single “Sex on the Beach,” and its B-side, “Dude Nah,” were written and recorded late last year with producer and Dedham resident Andy
Celley at the Dedham TV studios on Sprague Street.

Both songs are now available on multiple online platforms, including iTunes, Amazon,
Spotify, and CD Baby. All proceeds from the downloading of these tracks, as
well as the five tracks from Rich’s previous release, Stars Don’t Fall, will be donated to the Pete Frates #3 Fund. Each song is available for as low as 99 cents on iTunes.

Pete Frates is a Massachusetts native who played baseball at Boston College and is an ALS
patient. He and his organization, Team Frate Train, created the Ice Bucket
Challenge which has raised over $115 million for ALS research. His charity, the
Pete Frates #3 Fund, organizes fundraising events such as the Plunge 4 Pete,
which just took place on New Year’s Day, the Cruise for Care, which happened
last November, and Pints 4 Pete in May 2015.

Rich’s goal is to raise $1,000 for the fund through download sales and in the coming
months, a CD release and listening party where people can purchase a full
compact disc, designed by local artist Elizabeth Loranth, including all seven
tracks for a price of $10. He is currently using social media platforms such as
Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to get the word out. The single, “Sex on the
Beach,” has seen airplay on two online radio stations so far, Permanent
Vacation Radio and Radio A1A. It has also been featured on local radio stations
WARA 1320 AM on “Pontificating with Paul,” hosted by Paul Healy in Attleboro, and
on WATD 95.9 FM on “Almost Famous,” hosted by John Shea in Marshfield.
