Owner Of Closed Dedham Candy Store To Sue AG
David Sapers, the operator of Sugar Heaven, said that he intends on suing the AG for abuse of process and malicious prosecution.

DEDHAM, MA — The owner of candy stores in Boston, Dedham, and Somerville is filing a lawsuit against Attorney General Maura Healey over what he says is a set of frivolous citations.
David Sapers, the operator of Boston Total Sugar, LLC, Dedham Total Sugar, LLC, Somerville Total Sugar, LLC, which do business as Sugar Heaven, announced Wednesday that he intends on suing the AG for abuse of process and malicious prosecution.
In March, the three stores were cited $37,363 for child labor violations, failure to pay wages in a timely manner, failure to pay overtime, and failure to comply with the Massachusetts Earned Sick Time Law. Sapers said the claims are bogus, have cost him tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees, and forced the closure of two of his three stores.

"The staff in the AG’s Office cannot continue to maliciously issue citations to businesses in good standing in the community simply because the AG's Office feel they are above the law without being held accountable for their actions. Attorney General Healey should know better and should review cases before Wage and Hour Division staff continue to expend more resources issuing baseless citations that cause significant harm to local businesses.” Sapers said in a release.
The company previously had locations in Dedham and Boston, with only the Somerville location remaining open.
