Police Log: Stolen Vehicle Reported on Milton Street
The following information was provided by the Dedham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Monday, Aug. 4
At 10:12 a.m., Dedham police officers responded to Milton Street on a report of a stolen motor vehicle. Officers spoke with with an individual who works for a local auto body business who said that one of his vehicles, a grey 2012 Toyota Corolla, was in the lot and was set to be worked on but found that the keys were missing and they could have been left inside the vehicle. The matter is under investigation.
At 11:38 a.m., police responded to Bridge Street on a report of a bicycle being struck by a vehicle. Officers spoke with the bike rider, who said he was traveling east on Needham Street when he collided with a vehicle turning into the 7-Eleven parking lot. The cyclist reportedly went over the hood and landed on the ground; he was later treated by paramedics and transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

At 4:30 p.m., police received a report of a stolen bicycle, described as a 24-inch grey Mongoose bike valued at about $200.
At 4:40 p.m., police received a report of a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of BJ’s Wholesale. A driver told police he was in the lot trying to back out of a parking spot when another driver, also trying to back up, struck him and claimed that he struck her instead. When the man said he would call police, the other driver allegedly drove off. Both vehicles had sustained rear bumper and fender damage.

Tuesday, Aug. 5
At 9:09 a.m., police responded to a report of malicious vehicle damage on High Street. Upon arrival police spoke with the owner of a minivan that has sustained a smashed rear window. It did not appear that anything had been taking from within the vehicle, according to police records.
Wednesday, Aug. 6
At about 10:04 p.m., police responded to a residence after the homeowner reported the and his wife had been watching television when they heard something strike the front window of the home. When they went to see what it was, they discovered a splattered egg on the window. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.
Thursday, Aug. 7
At 12:38 a.m., police received a report of a hit-and-run accident in the area of Sprague Street in which a vehicle fled to Boston with leaking fluid after sustaining heavy front-end damage. Boston police later located the suspect, who told police that in Dedham that he had been driving on the road when a vehicle in the opposite lane crossed the center line and entered his lane of travel, forcing him to steer to the right to avoid a collision. He then drove up onto the sidewalk and struck a parked vehicle.
At about 9:09 a.m., police responded to New Balance at Legacy Place on a report of a stolen iPad. A manager at the store told police that the business typically uses iPads behind the register, and one of them had been stolen. The device was a standard-sized 64GB iPad, black in color with a black case, with a value of about $700.
Friday, Aug. 8
At 10:51 a.m., police received a report of an abandoned bike in the area of Harmony Hill. The bike, a Blue Trek 3500 mountain bike, was brought back to the Dedham Police Department.
At 11:13 a.m., police received a report of annoying calls, which may have been a phone scam. The resident told police that the calls went to her answering machine and she didn’t answer because she didn’t recognize the phone number. The voice message revealed what sounded like a computer-generated voice stating she owed back taxes and if they were unpaid she would be arrested.
At about 1:21 p.m., police responded to Papa Gino’s on a report of an unwanted party. Officers spoke with the manager of the business, who stated a customer had since left the restaurant after she entered and requested information and a letter regarding past employment there. The manager told the individual she was unable to produce the items and advised them to contact corporate management. The person then reportedly became irate and caused a scene, throwing French fries and drinks down and left the restaurant.
At 2:14 p.m., police received a report of an abandoned bicycle in the area of Dedham Plaza. The bike, a 21-speed red mountain bike, had reportedly been left outside for more than 48 hours.
At 6:29 p.m., Dedham police arrested Jonathan Lindor, 26, of Canton, in the area of Sherwood Street in Dedham for possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute.
At 9:33 p.m., police arrested Themistokles Tahmazidis, 44, of Dedham in the area of Lamoine St. on warrant.
Saturday, Aug. 9
At about 12 p.m., police received a report of an attempted fraud. A local resident claimed she received a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, stating the resident had been convicted of tax fraud and that she owed the U.S. government money. The resident knew the call to be a scam and did not pay money, and subsequently informed police.
At 4:48 p.m, police charged a 39-year-old Dedham man for driving with a suspended license, failure to stop for police and operating to endanger in the area of River Street.
At about 7 p.m., police responded to the Dedham Mall on a report of shoplifting at Sears. Loss Prevention told staff that a customer had attempted to conceal two rings in her pursue, and selected multiple items before entering a fitting room and concealing them, as well as also allegedly picking up a denim jacket and trying to leave the store without paying. The total value of the items came to about $666.98. A criminal complaint was filed.
Sunday, Aug. 10
At 2:35 p.m., police received a report of a stolen bicycle. A resident told police that about 3:15 a.m., four to five females allegedly entered a property after exiting what looked like a livery vehicle. The residents then noticed that their daughter’s bike, a 26-inch Schwinn girls bike with a black frame, pink tire rims and white-wall tires, had been missing the following morning.
