Proposal Would Bring Rotating Schedule, Trimesters To Dedham Middle School
Students at Dedham High School could see a new schedule next fall that is different than the current static one used.

DEDHAM, MA — Students at Dedham High School could see a new schedule next fall that is different than the current static one used.
Interim Principal Margo Fraczek recently showed a proposed rotating schedule to the school committee, which consists of six rotating blocks a day consisting of math, science, social studies, English language arts, and world language. The exploration block, lunch, and the special period reserved for team advisory, homework support, and silent reading would remain static.
The school would also switch to a trimester-based schedule to allow for three rotations in the special slot.

Superintendent Michael Welch pointed out it would bring new classes to the school, including health to sixth grade.
“The fact that we have 37 opportunities to give kids lessons in the middle school is enormous but it’s going to require some training,” Welch said. “This is a change that we believe is an improvement on a lot of fronts but certainly, there are going to be unforeseen landmines we’re going to step on.”
