“We got the monkey of our back,” said Newton North head coach Bussy Adam. “We’re back in the tournament.”

He added, “It’s been a challenging season for us. We haven’t gotten a win. But like I said, our spirits are up, the kids are working hard, and that’s what it’s about.”
Junior attack Johnny Fitzgerald began the Tigers’ scoring as he received a pass from Ryan Quinn and fired the ball past Marauder netminder Chris Dempsey for the 1-0 lead early in the first quarter.
At the 6:26 mark of that period, Tiger Joey Mariano netted an unassisted tally, and teammate Kevin Malloy followed 14 seconds later with a goal of his own. But Newton North was not done scoring as a mere 15 seconds ticked off the clock when Will Spiro netted a tally giving the Tigers the 4-0 advantage.
From there, Newton North cruised to the easy 20-1 victory.
The Marauders lone goal came when Steven Parker scored with about five minutes remaining in the contest.
