Westwood Man Arrested for Alleged Prescription Drug Possession, Shoplifting
Dedham police arrested Mark Shaughnessy Tuesday afternoon at CVS on Eastern Avenue.

A Westwood man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly possessing 50 prescription pills illegally.
Police said Mark Shaughnessy, 53 of Westwood, stole several small items at on Eastern Avenue, despite having more than $370 in his wallet at the time. When police searched Shaughnessy, he had two open packages of CVS cookies and a Waltham digital watch, according to a police report.
When officers searched Shaughnessy, they found 50 pills in prescription bottle, and determined that 13 were Clonzapam, a muscle relaxer, and 35 were Lorazapam, an anti-anxiety drug, police said.

Shaughnessy told police that he was in a car accident several years ago and he takes several medications for the pain, but could not produce valid prescriptions, according to an officer's report.
Shaughnessy was charged with possession of a Class C substance and shoplifting.

Stolen Bicycles
Two bicycles were stolen Tuesday from Sherwood Street, according to a police report. The bikes, a yellow BMX and an older gray bike, were stolen between 12:30 and 2 p.m., police said.
