Human Remains Confirmed to Be Missing Avon Man
A Dedham police officer was arrested in connection with the man's disappearance back in 2014.

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early confirmed at a press conference on Wednesday that the human remains found in Upton on Saturday were in fact those of missing Avon resident James Robertson.
It was reported Tuesday that Robertson’s family had been informed that the victims remains were identified. Robertson went missing on New Year’s Day in 2014 when two men with law enforcement badges took Robertson away. It was also confirmed that Robertson was taken from his parents home at the time of the kidnapping.
A hunter reported what appeared to be a human skull off Mendon Street in Upton on Saturday. Upon further investigation, additional human remains and clothing were found on both Saturday and later on Monday. According to the District Attorney, dental records and other evidence were used to help identify the remains.

Two Dedham men believed to be involved directly with the kidnapping were arrested in August, as was Dedham police officer Michael Schoener for allegedly providing police-related equipment to the kidnappers.
Four men have been charged in the kidnapping, three of whom remain in custody, reports the Boston Herald. Authorities believe 44-year-old James Feeney was behind the kidnapping. Feeney has been charged with kidnapping and conspiracy.

The cause of Robertson’s death is still unknown and the remains are still with the medical examiner. The cause of Robertson’s death is still under investigation.
