Dover-Sherborn School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Early Release Days

Here's a look at the must-know dates for the upcoming semester.

DOVER-SHERBORN, MA – Record scratch, school can't be right around the corner, can it? It's still a ways away, but these things have a knack for sneaking up on you during the dog days of summer. The first day of school for grades 1-12 is Aug. 30.

The 2017-18 school calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here's a list of dates to know for the fall semester:

  • Aug. 28, 29: Teachers report:
  • Aug. 30: School begins grades 1-12, K orientation
  • Sept. 4: Labor Day, no school
  • Sept. 21: Rosh Hashanah, no school
  • Sept. 27: Professional development, early release for Chickering, Pine Hill, Dover-Sherborn High and Middle School
  • Oct. 9: Columbus Day, no school
  • Oct. 11: Professional development, early release for Chickering and Pine Hill Schools
  • Oct. 18: Professional development, early release for Chickering and Pine Hill Schools
  • Oct. 25: Professional development, early release for Chickering, Pine Hill, Dover-Sherborn High and Middle School
  • Nov. 22: Early release for Thanksgiving
  • Nov. 23, 24: Thanksgiving recess
  • Nov. 27: Professional development, no school
  • Dec. 6: Professional development, early release for Chickering, Pine Hill, Dover-Sherborn High and Middle School
  • Dec. 25-Jan. 1: Winter recess
