📰 News we're reading

1. 29 Awesome Places to Retire (cheapism.com) — Falmouth is spotlighted as a scenic, quieter Cape Cod option for retirees, with a local hospital, a walkable downtown, and plenty of shops and restaurants. The piece notes town-sponsored senior services and housing perks that can make aging in place easier, while comparing Falmouth with other under-the-radar retirement destinations nationwide.

2. Abandoned utility vehicle found half-submerged at Dennis beach (capecodtimes.com) — Falmouth police are investigating after a driver went through a stop sign and guardrail near Grand and Clinton avenues, leaving a Mazda floating off the Falmouth Yacht Club during last weekend's nor'easter. The incident followed a separate abandoned utility vehicle found half-submerged at Chapin Beach in Dennis the same morning.

3. Starbucks closes 250 shops nationwide. Cape Cod locations to remain open. (capecodtimes.com) — Falmouth's Starbucks is among 11 Cape Cod locations that are staying open even as the company closes more than 250 shops across North America, including three in Massachusetts. The restructuring focuses on underperforming stores, while local in-store and in-supermarket cafes on the Cape continue operating as usual.

4. Nauset and Monomoy Play to a Scoreless Tie (provincetownindependent.org) — Nauset's boys soccer team extended its strong defensive run with a scoreless draw against Monomoy, continuing a three-game unbeaten streak. The Warriors now look to sharpen their offense during a busy road stretch that includes a midweek matchup at Falmouth before returning home to face Nantucket on October 8.
