Award-winning Documentary "Above and Beyond" Screening on July 21, Next in Summer Jewish Film Festival
This multiple Audience Award winner at Jewish film festivals tells the story of WWII pilots who volunteered to fight for Israel in 1948

Falmouth Jewish Congregation’s Summer Jewish Film Series continues on Tuesday, July 21 with the award-winning documentary Above and Beyond by director Roberta Grossman.

For the first time, the true and fascinating wartime story of a group of WWII pilots who volunteered to fight for Israel in the War of Independence of 1948, risking their lives for the under-equipped and isolated Israelis. Directed by Roberta Grossman (Blessed is the Match) and produced by Nancy Spielberg.

Falmouth Jewish Congregation’s 2015 Summer Series offers public screenings of five award-winning films that educate, inspire, and entertain. All screenings take place on Tuesday afternoons at 2:30 P.M. and evenings at 7:30 P.M. from July 7 through August 4. The five selections, a mix of feature and documentary films, have been acclaimed by both critics and audiences at Jewish film festivals around the world, with several winning Audience Awards at festivals and others selected as Critics’ Picks by the New York Times and Los Angeles Times.
All screenings are open to the public and take place in the congregation’s Speen Hall in the Blanche & Joel D. Seifer Community Center at 7 Hatchville Road, East Falmouth (02536). Doors open 30 minutes early and refreshments are included in the ticket price of $9 for members and $12 for non-members. A discounted Season “Reel Pass” is $40 for congregation members and $55 for non-members. Passes may be purchased in person at the congregation’s office, at the door, or by sending a check in advance. Pass holders will have “easy pass” access, bypassing the ticket lines at each screening.
