Block Island, Rhode Island Wind Turbine Infra-Sound 1979
Federal and state officials have been aware of dangers of wind turbine infra sound for almost forty years. Sleep deprivation and nuisance.
Starting in 1975, NASA, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, managed a program for the United States Department of Energy and the United States Department of Interior to develop utility-scale wind turbines for electric power, in response to the increase in oil prices.
The first United States wind turbine noise complaints were received from a dozen families within a two-mile radius of a turbine experiment in Boone, North Carolina during September of 1979.
The Boone residents described the annoyance as a type of thumping accompanied by vibrations. The sounds were louder inside the homes than outside. The installations of the wind turbines nationwide required the installations of cable TV as the wind turbines interfered with the line of sight television reception.
A wind turbine on Block Island, Rhode Island was part of the experimentation as well as many others during the 1970s.

The federal government has known since the 1980s through a series of wind turbine installation experiments the frequencies produced by wind turbines are a health hazard causing sleep disturbance and caused the shut down of television reception on Block Island, Rhode Island and sleep deprivation at Boone, North Carolina.
Federal and state officials were well aware of noise tests done in Boone North Carolina completed in 1985 by the US Department of Energy and NASA by Scientist Neil Kelly.
Those tests showed noise problems from wind turbines measured in decibels and human annoyance, nuisance noise or what was defined in 1986 as wind turbine infra sound.
Tests done on Block Island, Rhode Island at the same time showed infra sound interfered with radio and TV line of sight communications.
