Coast Guard Auxiliary Offers Boating Course
The Coast Guard Auxiliary's Woods Hole Flotilla is starting their 10-Week Boating Skills and Seamanship Course on March 18, 2020.

The Woods Hole Flotilla of the Coast Guard Auxiliary will be offering a 10 week course in Boating Skills and Seamanship beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2020. The two hour course sessions will meet from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. through May 20, 2020 at the Sea Education Association campus located at 171 Woods Hole Road, Falmouth, MA 02540.
This course is designed for both the experienced and the novice boater. Topics include: Choosing a boat, Legal Considerations, Trailering, Boat Handling, Aids To Navigation, Rules of the Road, Safety, Powering your Boat, Lines and Knots, Weather, Marine Radio, and Piloting. The text book for this course will be “Boating Skills and Seamanship 14th edition”. This is a NASBLA approved course which meets the Massachusetts requirement to obtain a safe boating certificate from the Massachusetts Environmental Police.
Pre-registration for the class is required and may be obtained by calling Stephen Wagner, Flotilla Public Education Officer, at 774-392-6193 or e-mail at captwags@comcast.net . While the instruction is free, there is a $65.00 fee to cover the textbooks and materials used in the course.
