Master plein air painter Rosalie Nadeau will be at Highfield Hall on Sunday, September 9 at 12:30 pm to demonstrate her approach to plein air painting, and to talk about why she is attracted to this artistic style that dates back to the 19th century impressionists. The immediacy of a plein air study and “the sense of a specific time and space where Light is the subject” are apparent in her work. As participants look on, Ms. Nadeau will create an original piece of art that might be used as a study sketch for a larger studio work, or might be complete unto itself. Versatile in both pastel and oil, Nadeau is a popular instructor known for her emphasis on the luminous qualities of light. Her demonstration is part of the “Fresh Air: Cape Cod Plein Air Painters” exhibition that will be on display at Highfield through Sunday, September 23. The exhibition was curated by Maryalice Eizenberg. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Preregistration for Ms. Nadeau’s demonstration is not required.
