Poetry Reading

The Woods Hole Public Library is pleased to announce that their four favorite local poets will be reading from their work at the Library on Wednesday, August 22 at 7:30 PM.  These four have worked and written together, and read their poems almost annually at the Library over the years to the delight of their faithful fans.

The poets are Eric Edwards, Judith Richardson, Mary Kane, and Jim Morgan.

Eric Edwards grew up in Woods Hole, and is greatly influenced by the place and its history, as  evidenced by the appearance of his new poems  in the journal Spritsail.  He has several chapbooks, the latest are 21 Triolets, and 11 Villanelles. He lives and writes in Falmouth with the other members of the group.

Judith Benet Richardson has lived in Woods Hole since the 1970’s when she moved here with her oceanographer husband. She has been in this poetry group for many years, since meeting Jim and Eric through the Boston University writing program. She has also written children's books; some of them are set in Woods Hole.

Jim Morgan teaches literature, composition, and creative writing at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Along with Eric and Judy, he is a founding member of a Falmouth poetry writing group, sometimes referred to as the Lead Pencil Poets, so ancient they do not recall when they started.

She has two chapbooks, “She Didn't Float” published locally by Harlequin Ink, and “After We Talk about the Recent Deaths of  Our Parents” and “About Compassion as Handled by Checkhov”, published by Casa De Cinco Hermanas Press. She lives in Falmouth and teaches at Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Library at 508-548-8961 or check out the website at www.woodsholepubliclibrary.org.
