Falmouth 5 Wind Turbine Doctors Bushwhacked By Town And Massachusetts CEC
Town and Massachusetts Clean Energy Center Released Noise Documents After Doctors Wrote Letter Turbines Are 110 Decibels And Acoustic Memo

Five Falmouth doctors have diagnosed the residents living around the wind turbines as NIMBY not in my back yard and suffering psychogenic nocebo effects from the wind turbines.

Five Falmouth doctors signed a letter to the Falmouth Board of Health

The main part of the letter says the wind turbines, "provides revenue for the Town." The 5 doctors claim to be financial experts in commercial wind turbine projects ?
The doctors claim they have NO expertise in wind energy acoustic noise expertise yet wrote a letter on wind turbine noise and the effects on human health.

The doctors claim the decibel level are modest. The doctors on March 19, 2013 had no idea the town was hiding a 110 decibel noise warning from Vestas wind turbine company and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center subsequently admitted in a memo in April of 2013 they had made major mistakes in the original acoustic noise studies prior to the installations.
The Town of Falmouth and MassCEC appear to have done a little surgery on the doctors stabbing them in the back after the doctors wrote the letter in March of 2013.
Falmouth had this warning prior to doctor letter :
“The Town has previously been provided with the Octave Band Data / Sound performance for the V82 turbine. This shows that the turbine normally operates at 103.2dB but the manufacturer has also stated that it may produce up to 110dB under certain circumstances.”
Massachusetts Clean Energy Center wrote this memo one month after doctor letter :
"the original MTC-commissioned feasibility study for Falmouth over-estimated the likely acoustic impact, that study did not include a detailed acoustic analysis based upon sampling of ambient acoustic conditions (as is our current, more rigorous practice) which might have identified a potential exceedance of the 10 decibel limit,” the memo reads. “The Falmouth wind turbines are of an older design which does not offer ‘low noise operations’ or other retrofit options.”"
In addition a KEMA Inc map from 2005 shows decibel levels exceed 40 decibels on Black Smith Shop Road.
The above information was hidden from the public and the 5 doctors until after they wrote the letter.
The five Falmouth doctors have not retracted their May 19, 2013 letter to the Falmouth Board Health despite letters, memos, maps and documents made public since they wrote their evaluations of the residents around the wind turbines
The hidden August 2010 Vestas 110 decibel to the Town of Falmouth and the MassCEC admission of acoustic noise mistakes brings up serious questions about the doctors as a group and their decades of experience in medicine and health and their failure to retract the letter from the Falmouth Board of Health.
The so called medical professionals also branded the neighbors of the wind turbines in Falmouth as NIMBY - ( Not In My Back Yard )
None of the five doctors ever examined any one of the up to 200 residential home owners around the wind turbines.
An important step in becoming a doctor, medical students must take the Hippocratic Oath. And one of the promises within that oath is “first, do no harm”
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection found the turbines break state noise regulations and the Massachusetts courts have found the turbines cause substantial harm
The Falmouth Board of Health as a result of the letter is ignoring thousands of written certified noise complaints over the wind turbines.
It's time to retract the letter

Dr. Gail Harkness,
Chairperson Falmouth Board of Health

Re: Health effects of wind turbines in Falmouth
Dear Dr. Harkness,
As physicians and residents of Falmouth, we are contacting you regarding the allegations of health impacts from wind turbines. While we do not claim to have expertise in wind energy or acoustics, as a group we have decades of experience in medicine and health.
Given Cape Cod's formidable wind resource, the large wind turbines located in Falmouth can generate substantial amounts of energy. This not only provides revenue for the Town, but also reduces air pollution and climate change. The proven risks of climate change are all too clear - especially for Coastal Communities.
We have listened to the wind turbines and find there is little to hear. The measured decibel levels are modest. We are skeptical that any actual health hazard is created by their operation. Credible public health research indicates that psychogenic nocebo effects may be largely responsible for the controversy, as well as NIMBYism.
Our Society needs to transition from fossil fuels to renewable sources. We urge you to not support curtailment or removal of wind turbines, which would be a regressive step, not a sensible use of taxpayer dollars, and unsubstantiated by a medical or Scientific basis,
Sincerely
Nathaniel Clark, MD Jame S Liljestrand, MD Robert Reece, MD
