Falmouth Academy Choruses Perform in Woods Hole

Singers Provide Musical Program at Holiday Meeting of Woods Hole Woman's Club

Twenty-seven choristers from the Falmouth Academy performed under the direction of John Yankee at the holiday gathering of the Woods Hole Woman’s Club on December 13. The Boys’ and Girls’ Choruses sang both as separate groups and together, presenting a varied and beautiful program to delight the audience. Especially poignant was the boys’ rendition of Christmas in the Trenches, a ballad that relates the story of the 1914 Christmas Truce between the British and German lines on the Western Front during the First World War. More traditional carols, including some sing-a-longs raised the spirits of all.

The Woods Hole Woman’s Club brings members together to provide enrichment and mutual helpfulness for the betterment of Woods Hole and the surrounding communities. Monthly meetings from October through April include informative presentations, entertainment, and social events. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at 11:30 am and will feature theatrical performances by several of the club’s talented members.

Additional club activities include raising money for college scholarships and to support community organizations. New members are welcomed at any time during the year. Information about membership is available from Susan Houghton at 508-540-0578.
