Falmouth Adds Online Payment Option For Water Bill

Falmouth town officials added the option for residents and business owners to pay their water bills online beginning Dec. 18.

FALMOUTH, MA — Home and business owners can now pay their water bills online as the town continues to add online billing options through Invoice Cloud. Town officials have already added electronic payment options for real estate, property and vehicle excise tax bills, but starting with the Dec. 18 bill, residents can start to use the service for their water bills.

The town expects to expand the offering to boat excise taxes and moorings next year.

"Switching to online payments with Invoice Cloud has made it easier for our residents and other property owners to receive and review their bills, schedule payments and avoid late fees — all while reducing paper use and helping the environment,"Treasurer Patricia O'Connell said. "We are always working to make the billing process as convenient as possible for our residents, and we encourage them to pay online."

With the Invoice Cloud system, residents can log in and make electronic payments on a computer or a smartphone, including by text message. The traditional option of mailing a check or paying a bill in person at Town Hall remains available.

"Online bill payers like the overall convenience, including payment scheduling flexibility and autopay, as well as reducing paper waste and cutting clutter from household files," Invoice Cloud president Bob Lapides said. "Paying by text is one of the fastest growing types of electronic payment as consumers grow more comfortable with receiving bill notifications and making payments at the push of a button on their phone."
