Falmouth Officers In Shooting ID'd

Police have also charged two more people in connection with Friday's shootout in an East Falmouth neighborhood.

FALMOUTH, MA – Officials have identified the Falmouth Police officers injured in a shootout in an East Falmouth neighborhood. Officer Don DeMiranda was shot twice – once in his vest and once in his shoulder area – and taken to an area hospital where he is listed in good condition, the Cape & Islands District Attorney's office said. Officer Ryan Moore was grazed in the neck and released from Falmouth Hospital Friday night.

A third police officer was hurt responding to the scene Friday night, according to WCVB's Sera Congi. He is recovering at home.

Authorities also said Saturday they have charged two others in connection to the incident.

Policer were called to Ashley Drive in the Seacoast Shores neighborhood shortly before 5:30 p.m. for a reported disturbance and found 21-year-old Malik Koval breaking bottles in the street, according to the DA.

When confronted, Koval allegedly became agitated and ran back into the home. As two people came outside and tried to interfere with the officers' efforts to follow Koval, he allegedly fired at the officers from inside the house.

Police shot back and hit Koval several times. He was med-flighted to a Boston area hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Authorities have also charged Kimberly Koval, 38, and Marcus Maseda, 18, with obstruction of justice, assault and battery on a police officer and interfering with the duties of a police officer. They were identified as the people who allegedly tried to block DeMiranda and Moore.
