Falmouth Town Meeting Nov 6,2017 Wind Turbine Money

Town Meeting members control purse strings in Falmouth and vote up or down important projects or policies. How did they spend wind money?

Falmouth Town Meeting is November 6, 2017.

Falmouth Town Meeting Members will be asked in Article 3 to appropriate $120,000.00 for the electric bill at the Wastewater treatment plant since the turbines have been shut down. This equates to around $30,000.00 a month.

The Massachusetts Superior Court agreed with the Falmouth Zoning Board the wind turbines are a nuisance.

In March of 2014, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) Board of Directors approved $1.8 million in relief funds for the Town of Falmouth to help the municipality mitigate the financial impacts associated with the reduced operations of its town-owned wind turbine project located at the Town of Falmouth Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The Town of Falmouth Massachusetts also has an account called the Receipts Reserved for Appropriation

Once deposited these funds may only be expended by a Town Meeting vote of appropriation.

The Total Fund Balance as of February 29, 2016, was $1,307,320.00

The wind turbines are no longer operational.
