Falmouth Turbine Move Exceeds Original Purchase Price 5 Million

Moving Falmouth Wind Turbines Based On 12 Percent Cost of Living Increase Since 2011 - Cost To Move Exceeds Original Purchase Price.

The Massachusetts Superior Courts have affirmed the Barnstable Superior Court Judge Cornelius Moriarty issued order to shut down Falmouth's Wind 1 and Wind 2 on June 21, 2017.

The Town of Falmouth plans to issue a RFP, Request for Proposal, within a few weeks to move or sell the old gear driven 110 decibel wind turbines built over ten years ago.

The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC) bought these two older gear driven turbines in order to resell them to local wind projects. This quasi-public Massachusetts agency known today as the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center purchased two Vestas V-82 wind turbines for $5.2 million in 2005.
