Scientist Neil Kelley and his team in the mid 1980s thoroughly documented significant adverse health effects resulting from inaudible, very-low-frequency sound produced by a large wind turbine in Boone, N.C. This scientifically rigorous NASA and Department of Energy-sponsored study, in cooperation with MIT and four other prestigious universities looked into complaints from nearby residents about sleep problems along with whooshing and thumping sounds it made.

Noise considerations generally take two forms, state regulatory compliance and nuisance levels at nearby residences:

A. ”Regulatory compliance”: Massachusetts state regulations do not allow a rise of 10 dB or greater above background levels at a property boundary (Massachusetts Air Pollution Control Regulations, Regulation 310 CMR 7.10).

Vestas Wind Turbine CEO Engel Ditlev In 2011 Admitted Their Turbines Generate Infra-Sound And They Do Not Have The Technolgy To Stop It.

Section 1605 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) included a "buy America" provision which should have disqualified Danish-made Vestas turbines. Falmouth and MTC were able to obtain a waiver from the provision after GE, the only American turbine manufacturer, refused to site turbines so close to occupied structures, roads, property lines, and public access areas.

Dear ,
The Town has previously been provided with the Octave Band Data / Sound performance for the V82 turbine. This shows that the turbine normally operates at 103.2dB but the manufacturer has also stated that it may produce up to 110dB under certain circumstances.
