Feds 1980s: Wind Turbine Frequencies Cause Health Problems, Shut Down TV Reception

Experiments By NASA and US Dept of Energy :Wind Frequencies Cause A Human Nuisance Noise . Frequencies Shut Down Television Reception

In the 1980s NASA and the US Department of Energy conducted wind turbine experiments around the country . Two of the findings were:

Experiment A. Boone,North Carolina 1985 the wind turbines frequencies cause headaches, ringing in her ears, insomnia and dizziness.

Experiment B, Block Island, Rhode Island 1979 the wind turbine frequencies shut down local television reception on the island. In order to continue the experiment on Block Island the residents had to be provided with cable TV to avoid interference

Experiment A --Boone, North Carolina : residents in a NASA wind turbine experiment complained of a nuisance noise from the turbine. That noise frequencies were determined to be wind turbine infra sound.

Nearby residents were annoyed by the low-frequency, acoustic impulses propagated into the structures in which the complainants lived. The complaints were headaches, fatigue, temporary feelings of dizziness, nausea etc.

The annoyance was described as an intermittent "thumping" sound accompanied by vibrations.

In research supported by the US Department of Energy, Dr. Neil Kelly and his colleagues in 1987 identified impulsive low frequency noise. The wind turbine infra sound and vibration produced “ Human Annoyance “ within neighbors homes.

Special thanks are extended to the residents of Boone, North Carolina, particularly those near the MOD-l site who aided us in this investigation.

Experiment B Block Island, Road Island

NASA knew In 1979 - Wind turbines frequencies caused electrical interference with television reception -Block Island

A single 200 Kilowatt wind turbine dedicated on Block Island on June 15, 1979

This wind turbine caused television interference. In order to operate the turbine the island had to have cable TV installed. The islanders would not let the experiment continue until they had Cable TV.

NASA Contractor Report 194468 Equations for Estimating the Strength of TV Signals Scattered by Wind Turbines

Introduction During the late 1970's and early 1980's, concerns about the potential interference of wind turbine generators with electromagnetic communication signals led to a series of research studies, both in the laboratory and in the field, conducted by the staff of the University of Michigan Radiation Laboratory.

Figure 1. Experimental wind turbines around which some of the first research on the scattering of electromagnetic signals by wind turbin~ blades was conducted in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Basic Equations A general model is developed and presented in References 1 and 5 of the essential mechanism by which a wind turbine can produce electromagnetic interference, and the following discussion originates in these references. Figure 2 illustrates the field conditions under which a wind turbine may cause EM!.

The bottom line these turbines used in the 1980s NASA , Dept of Energy Experiment were 200 Kilowatt wind turbines.

Today the Town of Falmouth has two 1650 Kilowatt wind turbines or what are called 1.65 Megawatt turbines.

The Falmouth wind turbines are eight times the size of the NASA experimental turbines and the Town of Falmouth owns two of them.

The federal government has known since the 1980s the frequencies produced by wind turbines are health hazardous and caused the shut down of television reception on Block Island, Rhode Island.
