Fire Extinguished At Beloved Falmouth Business
A fryer used to make cider donuts at Jack in the Beanstalk caught fire this week, but the business only suffered minimal damage.
FALMOUTH, MA — A cider donut fryer caught fire at a Falmouth business on Tuesday, but the beloved business only suffered minimal damage.
Just after 7 a.m., Falmouth Emergency Communications received a call for a kitchen fire at Jack in the Beanstalk on Gifford Street Extension, officials said.
Fire officials arrived at the scene and reported smokey conditions in the building. The first arriving company put a hose line into the rear kitchen door where they found the fryer on fire, officials said.

"The fire was quickly knocked down, and the overhaul and smoke removal were completed," officials said. "Fortunately, the fire damage was limited to the kitchen area, with only light smoke in other areas of the structure."
The Falmouth building commissioner, health agent and electrical inspector were on the scene to assist with the investigation and provide guidance on reopening the business.
