The Woods Hole Woman’s Club has awarded scholarships to five Precinct One high school seniors. Gabriel Remsen and Daniel Sullivan will graduate from Falmouth High School. Elise Casso, Faye McGuire, and Luke Okoshi-Michel are finishing at Falmouth Academy.

Club members extend sincere congratulations to these outstanding students, all of whom have strong academic records and a wide variety of achievements. Four of the five were honored at the Club’s recent Scholarship Tea and spoke with members. The fifth student was playing at a lacrosse match on Martha’s Vineyard and sent a written statement to be read aloud at the tea.

Elise Casso is an outstanding cross-country runner who also participates in figure skating, lacrosse, and a variety of other outdoor sports during all seasons. Her training for running taught her that “accomplishments feel better when you work for them.” Singing in the chorus and photography are other interests. She loved working as a Teacher’s Assistant at the Children’s School of Science and is considering a teaching career. She is headed to Bowdoin College in Maine.

After speaking to Falmouth’s Select Board and Town Meeting the initiative won nearly unanimous support. Fay will attend Amherst College.

Luke Okoshi-Michel has won multiple awards for his science projects and for violin performance. He played varsity soccer and tennis and shared his talents with younger students by working as a summer camp counselor and as a soccer coach and referee. Luke was appointed to the Falmouth Cultural Council and has worked with two regional youth climate programs. He will enroll in Tuft University’s College of Engineering.
