Former 5th Barnstable Candidate Charged With OUI
Jack Stanton, 28, challenged Randy Hunt for the Fifth Barnstable District House seat last year.
MASHPEE, MA — A Cape Cod resident who ran for the Fifth Barnstable District House seat last year faces a drunken driving charge. Jack Stanton, 28, of Sandwich, was stopped on Route 28 early Sunday after repeatedly crossing into the opposite lane, according to police.
Stanton smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot and glassy eyes and he was slurring his words, according to a police report cited by the Falmouth Enterprise. He told a Mashpee officer he drank two beers in three hours at Liam Maguire's in Falmouth.
The Enterprise identified Stanton as a commercial fisherman who lost to Randy Hunt in the 2018 election.
