Greater Falmouth Mostly All-Male Men’s Chorus Begins Rehearsals Thursday
Calling all singers, male and female alike.

The Greater Falmouth Mostly All-Male Men’s Chorus begins rehearsals for its fall season on Thursday, September 13, from 7 to 9 Pm, at, 323 Jones Road in Falmouth.
New singers, both men and women, are invited to join the four-part men’s harmony chorus. New members may attend any of the weekly rehearsals in September on a trial basis to see if the chorus is right for them.
Concerts will take place Saturday, December 1, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, December 2, at 3 PM, at St. Patrick’s Church in Falmouth. The concert theme is “All Aboard” and the program will include songs about all forms of transportation.
“If it’s travel or transport—planes, trains, or automobiles—we’re singing about it,” said Marcy Franklin Lerner, president of the GFMAMMC. “We have a lot of great songs, about transportation, songs that are fun to sing and fun to listen to.”
Among the songs on the program are “The Letter” (“Give me a ticket for
an airplane, I ain’t got time to take a fast train”), a medley of “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and “The Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” “500 Miles,” “Old Paint,” “Route 66,” “Walking in Memphis,” “Bicycle Built for Two,” and “Man on a Flying Trapeze.”
There will also be a sing-along, to involve the audience in the fun of making music.
Keeping with a tradition established in the spring concert, individual chorus members will introduce each song with a personal reflection on the song.
In addition to the December concerts, the GFMAMMC will sing for Falmouth’s Veteran’s Day services on Sunday, November 11, at 11 AM, on the main library lawn.
Brittany Haskell, artistic director of the chorus, selects the songs for the chorus, conducts the chorus, and leads the rehearsals. She provides each chorus member with a rehearsal CD so that they can practice their parts in between rehearsals.
The chorus consists of about 30 singers, “mostly men,” who sing Tenor 1 and 2, Baritone, and Bass. There are no auditions for the chorus, though members should be able to sing.
“We are an enthusiastic bunch,” said Dr. Franklin Lerner. “We love to sing together, to socialize, and to share music. Support the arts: be a performer, be an audience participant, be a patron. There is a lot of great music in Falmouth.”
