Lawsuit Dropped Against Town Manager

Former Framingham human resources director Sandra Charton said Julian Suso fired her because she was a whistle-blower and because she was a woman.

According to the Cape Cod Times, a former employee of Falmouth Town Manager Julian Suso has dropped a lawsuit which accused him of violating state and federal anti-discrimination laws.

The plaintiff, Sandra Charton, worked for Suso as a human resources director in his former capacity as Framingham Town Manager until she was fired in 2009. She alleged that she was fired in retaliation for questioning his decision to lay off eight town employees, seven of whom were either minorities or over the age of 40.

Charton said she was fired because she was a whistle-blower and because she was a woman.

Instead of pursuing the case in Superior Court, Charton says she will now pursue the case with the state's anti-discrimination commission. A hearing before that board is scheduled for September 18.

Suso became Falmouth's Town Manager in November 2011.
