Scholarship Awards Announced by Woods Hole Woman’s Club

Seven High School Seniors Earn Scholarships

The Woods Hole Woman’s Club has awarded scholarships to seven Precinct One high school seniors this year. Tomasz Dvorak, Louis Kilfoyle, and Emily Wright, all seniors at Falmouth High School attended the Club’s annual scholarship tea on May 2nd.

Max Abrams and Dante Borgese from the Falmouth High School and Sam Bumpus of Falmouth Academy were present at the group’s April meeting. The seventh awardee, Luisa Bocconcelli, is enrolled in Falmouth Academy but spending her senior year in Morocco.

Tomasz Dvorak is vice president of the Science National Honor Society and a member of the French Honor Society and an AP Scholar. He is captain of the High School sailing team and is becoming an Eagle Scout. Tomasz will attend UMASS Amherst in the fall in their honor program.

Louis Kilfoyle has played the piano for 13 years, is a member of the National Math, Music, and Science honor societies; does programming both for pay and as a WHOI volunteer. He studies university-level mathematics online and played varsity soccer. He plans to attend Brown University

Emily Wright is a member of the National Honor Societies in Math, Music, and Art in addition to the National Honor Society. She volunteers with in art programs at Teaticket and Morse Pond Schools. She is a percussionist in the school band and wind ensemble. Emily will attend Dennison in the fall.

Luisa Bocconcelli is spending her senior year at Madras Assalam in Rabat, Morocco with the YES AMIDEAST. (Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Abroad), a program of the U.S. State Department. She will attend Brown University.

The Scholarship Committee, headed by Priscilla Ruegg, was proud to present Woods Hole Woman’s Club scholarships to so many fine students this year.

The Woods Hole Woman’s Club brings members together to provide enrichment and mutual helpfulness for the betterment of Woods Hole and the surrounding communities. New members are welcomed at any time during the year. Information about membership is available from Dee Aukamp at 508-495-9911.
