Town Meeting Vote Saves Community Preservation Fund
The article's proponent argued that Community Preservation funds could be used for more pressing town expenses.

The Cape Cod Times is reporting that residents voted down a warrant article at Town Meeting last night that would have defunded the Community Preservation Fund.
Article 15 on the Special Town Meeting Warrant posed the question, "with 2,600 acres already purchased for open space (more than 25 percent of Falmouth's land mass), should taxpayers be allowed to decide whether to defund the Communty Preservation [Fund] and apply those monies where need is more acute."
According to the Times, Marc Finneran, who had introduced the article, argued that the Community Preservation Fund—which is currently used for open space, historic building repairs and various preservation projects—could be utilized for other, more important, town expenses.

Town Meeting members overwhelmingly voted down the article, however, along with an amendment to the article that would have allowed selectmen to reduce or revoke CPC surcharges.
Town Meeting will continue tonight at 7pm at the Lawrence School, with wind turbines and the town budget expected to be the main topics of discussion.
