Tribe’s Deal With Governor Rejected by Federal Agency
The Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs rejects the casino compact between the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Friday.
As part of the deal the tribe would have paid the state 21.5 percent of revenues, according to the Cape Cod Times.
The deal would have been have been the most lucrative casino compact for any state in history. Its what many experts say may have been the compacts downfall.
Governor Patrick and tribal officials will now head back into negotiations to hammer out a new deal.
