Woods Hole Auction Full of Treasures
From boats to artwork to marine items, something for everyone
One of the most anticipated events of the summer in Woods Hole is coming up Saturday, July 14. The Woods Hole Historical Museum is holding its Biennial Auction on Saturday, July 14, on the museum grounds at 579 Woods Hole Road, Falmouth.
Viewing of the treasures, found in local attics, garages and boatyards, begins at 9am; bidding starts at 10am and goes to 2pm. The auctioneer is the well-known and always entertaining Phil Stanton.
Mr. Stanton said this year's items are the highest quality he has ever seen at the Woods Hole Auction.
The auction specializes in antiques, marine items, collectibles, artwork and boats, among other items.
Among the items up for bid this year are an O'Day Javelin complete sailboat plus trailer; an antique clock and Victorian chairs from the confessional at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Hartford, Connecticut; a Turkish kilim rug that is approximately 10 feet by 12 feet.
The auction is a fundraiser for the non-profit museum.
Free parking is at the WHOI Challenger lot next to the museum.
