Chris Sale Leaves Game After Being Struck By Line Driver
The Red Sox ace went down in a heap after taking a liner.

BOSTON, MA — Red Sox ace Chris Sale went down in a heap and left the game after being struck by a line drive Saturday afternoon. Sale appeared to have been struck in the left hip area.
The Red Sox said Sale suffered a left hip contusion and will be evaluated. Some of the focus is on how Sale hit the deck: Red Sox team broadcaster Jerry Remy said on the NESN broadcast "It didn't hit his knee, but he was he grabbing his knee, this is worrisome."
Sale was pitching in his final Spring Training tune-up before starting the season opener Thursday in Tampa Bay. The lefthander was outstanding in 2017, winning 17 games and striking out a league-high 308 in a league-leading 214 1/3 innings.
