David Price Sent Back To Boston With Hand Numbness

The Sox lefthander won't pitch in this week's big Yankees series.

BOSTON, MA — Red Sox pitcher David Price won't pitch in this week's big series against the New York Yankees due to hand numbness.

The lefthander was sent back to Boston for an MRI and some tests after reoccurring hand numbness he experienced earlier in the season. It is unknown whether he will go to the disabled list.

Price had encountered the issue Sunday in a bullpen session in Texas, a team that hit him hard. Price has struggled mightily of late. He is 2-4 with a 5.11 ERA this season.

Rick Porcello will take Price's spot in the rotation Wednesday.

The Red Sox and Yankees have been the top two teams in baseball this season, and their last series saw fights, ejections, and suspensions. Tuesday night's game is 7:05 in New York. You can watch on NESN or listen on WEEI 93.7.
