Boston, MA (February 17, 2015) – Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) announces a new exhibition, Gaining Perspective: A Visual History of MassArt, on view Thursday, February 19-Friday, March 20, 2015 in the President’s Gallery (located in the Tower Building on MassArt’s campus at 621 Huntington Avenue, Boston). The exhibition celebrates MassArt’s unique history and significant impact on the world through the art, design, inventions, teaching, and leadership of its renowned alumni and faculty. This exhibition was curated by Paul Dobbs, M.A., MassArt Library Director and former archivist; Librarians Caitlin Pereira and Greg Wallace, and a team of MassArt faculty and staff. All exhibitions at MassArt are free and open to the public; the President’s Gallery is open Monday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For information about this and other exhibitions at MassArt call (617) 879-7333, email galleryinfo@massart.edu or see www.massart.edu.

In addition to the objects, artwork, and photographs on view in Gaining Perspective the public is encouraged to participate in a photo booth installation by Cindy Sherman Bishop (MFA Dynamic Media Institute, 2013), for which the participant’s photo is incorporated into one of several historical photographs at MassArt. The public is also invited to participate in an online component of the exhibition: submit your MassArt memories at history.massart.edu or tag your Instagram or Twitter posts with #MassArtMemories to personally contribute to the show.
