The Help: Boston's Small Business Series: Cecilia Matson's Galoop

We at The Help strive to be the best Lifestyle Management Company in Boston.

We are committed to building relationships with small businesses and promoting those we feel are truly the best at what they do!

We are excited to showcase Cecilia Matson’s Galoop which provides child development classes for babies and toddlers and expert advice for caregivers in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Cecilia opened Galoop in February 2014 after 20 years of experience working with young children and their families. Galoop classes offer developmentally appropriate activities for babies and toddlers. Each class is an hour long and involves circle time, parachute play, structured activities, free play, discussion for parents and caregivers, story time, and goodbyes. This balance of structure, repetition, and novelty helps young children explore, gain confidence, learn, and have a great time.

Cecilia studied clinical psychology in her native Argentina, and earned her Master’s in Child Development at Tufts University. She enjoyed research positions at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and the Brazelton Institute at Children’s Hospital in Boston, but she also wanted to have the kind of position where she could develop relationships with families, build community, and work with the same children over a longer period of time.

In 2006, Cecilia joined Isis Parenting and helped develop its renowned curriculum for child-development classes, including the Spanish-language classes. She also conducted parenting consults and trained and supervised new instructors. During her time at Isis, many children did their “firsts” in her classes – first steps, first words, first sharing. And parents raved about her classroom environment: a relaxed, fun, engaging place where children, parents, and caregivers could all learn and feel supported.

When Isis Parenting closed in January 2014, Cecilia knew it was time to start Galoop in Brookline. A Brookline resident since 1999 and the mother of two children herself, she is thrilled to be working in her community.

Don’t miss out on her classes this Fall! Classes start on September 8th and are already filling up. To register go to www.galoopclasses.com.
