Meet Andrew Benintendi, Boston's Newest Outfielder
The Sea Dogs' slugger is skipping Triple A and heading straight to The Show.

Andrew Benintendi, the Portland Sea Dogs' slugger and one of the top prospects in the Red Sox farm system, is traveling to Seattle to meet with the team Tuesday, according to reports that surfaced around midnight.
The move would have the 22-year-old outfielder bypassing Triple A altogether and heading straight to The Show.
Benintendi was drafted seventh overall last year from the University of Arkansas, where he took home the Golden Spikes award following a monstrous 2015 season.

That year, he led the nation with 20 home runs and was the first Division I player since 2009 with at least 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases, according to ESPN.
He also flirted with .400, finishing the season batting .376 on top of 57 RBIs.

Benintendi has quickly risen through the minor league system, playing just 35 games in Lowell and 19 in Greenville last season and 34 games in Salem and 63 in Portland this season.
On his way up, he smashed 20 home runs, batted in 107 runs and finished the 2015 and 2016 seasons hitting .313 and .312, respectively.
The Sea Dogs recently moved him to left field - where he played four games - from center to prepare him for the potential call-up. He committed just two errors during his time in the minors, boasting a .992 fielding percentage last year and a .996 fielding percentage this season.
On Sunday, Benintendi capped an outstanding July with a 4-for-5 performance at the plate, hitting two home runs and driving in a career-high five runs.
