National Braille Press Annual Public Meeting Will Recognize Outstanding Volunteers

National Braille Press (NBP) annual public meeting will honor recipients of the 2015 Volunteer Awards

WHAT: National Braille Press (NBP) annual public meeting will honor recipients of the 2015 Volunteer Awards, Amber Bobnar of WonderBaby.org and corporate partner KPMG, and feature keynote speaker, Janet Ulwick-Sacca, Trustee and Teacher of the Visually Impaired, who will discuss the innovations of the Great Expectations series.

Amber Bobnar created WonderBaby.org in 2006 when her one-year-old son, Ivan, was diagnosed with a rare retinal disorder, known as LCA. Amber’s website began as a space for her to gather her research on LCA in one place, until 2011 when she teamed up with the Perkins School for the Blind. Perkins School helped Amber provide more features and support for an online community of families who began to share their experiences in a database of articles.

KPMG has been a great partner to NBP sending volunteers to help assemble Children’s Braille Book Club selections from the iconic Disney’s Frozen to Froggy’s Day with Dad by Jonathan London. KPMG has also supported the annual NBP gala A Million Laughs for Literacy which raises funds for braille literacy programming for blind children.
