State officials set a goal of conducting 3,500 coronavirus tests a day. The number of positive cases has jumped as the state continues to reach or surpass this goal.

"Our models suggest cases are likely to increase rapidly in the coming weeks, and the strain on our healthcare system will be unprecedented," Baker said.
