Fundraiser to Help Plainville Family Affected by Plane Crash Underway

Contributions are being collected through a GoFundMe campaign.

Neighbors of the Plainville family whose home was struck by an airplane are now rallying to help the family recover from the tragic incident.

On a tree next to the home owned by the Rice family is a sign directing those passing by to go to a GoFundMe page. That page, titled “Plainville Fire - Rice Family,” aims to raise $10,000 to help the family recover.

“They are great people and any help that our community can provide to show them how much our town is willing to help would be much appreciated. We have opted to request cash donations (via gofundme.com) because it would allow the family to purchase the things that they are familiar with or need immediately - allowing them to restore their quality of life as quickly as possible,” the page managed by Carey Takach reads.

As of Monday night, the page is nearing its goal, raising $9,145.

On Sunday evening, a small plane crashed into the home on Bridle Path, setting the roof on fire. All four members of the Rice family were able to escape the home without injury.

The next day, members of the Plainville Fire Department were able to go through the home and retrieve the family’s valuables and personal belongings of importance. It has not been decided what will happen to the house as investigators are still at the property.
