Tom Brady Endorses Donald Trump: One Year Ago Today

It was Sept. 16, 2015, when Tom Brady stood in front of a "Make America Great Again" hat and endorsed Trump.

When Donald Trump was still working to secure the Republican presidential nomination and Tom Brady was fresh off "winning" DeflateGate, the Patriots quarterback stood in front of his locker, which contained a "Make America Great Again" hat, and endorsed Trump.

Exactly one year later, it's startling to see how Brady, who rarely talks about off-field issues in order to keep his personal brand free of controversy, spoke so freely about supporting possibly the most controversial man in the world right now.

When asked on Sept. 16, 2015, if Trump can win the election, Brady replied, “I hope so. That would be great. There’d be a putting green on the White House lawn, I’m sure of that.”

On Twitter, Trump replied, “A great honor from somebody that knows how to win!”

During an appearance on the Fox Business Channel in August, Trump had said the two were close and that the NFL's investigation into Brady for his role in deflating footballs was wrong.

Brady, of course, eventually softened his endorsement, claiming ignorance of the real issues in the election.

While Brady backtracked, Trump has very recently brought up their apparently chummy relationship. Trump on Thursday appeared on the Dr. Oz show to talk about his physical results, saying that while his birth certificate says 70, he feels 35, and when he plays golf with Brady, "I feel I'm the same age as him. It's crazy."
