🌟 Student Success Story: Building Confidence in Text Evidence Writing 🌟

One of my students initially struggled when asked to support his answers with evidence from a text. While he often understood the correct answer, explaining why and locating text evidence to support his thinking was a real challenge.

To support him, we used a simple Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning (CER) graphic organizer to break the process into clear, manageable steps. Through consistent practice, guided instruction, and repeated application across a variety of reading passages, he gradually developed a much stronger understanding of how to support his ideas with textual evidence.

The transformation has been incredible 🎉

Today, he approaches written-response questions with confidence. He independently locates evidence, explains his thinking clearly, and produces more detailed, thoughtful responses. Most importantly, he now believes in his ability to take on challenging reading tasks and communicate his ideas effectively.

This is why I love what I do. With the right strategy and systematic practice, students don’t just improve academically—they grow in confidence as learners.
