Coronavirus Test Site Coming To Ashland Commuter Rail Station

ASHLAND, MA — A new drive-up coronavirus testing site will open at the Ashland commuter rail station Monday, replacing one that closed recently in Framingham.

The Ashland site, located along Pleasant Street at Cordaville Road, will be the only drive-up site in the MetroWest area. Framingham is still offering walk-up testing at Saint Tarcisius Parish, 562 Waverly St., by appointment.

State Rep. Jack Lewis and Senate President Karen Spilka, an Ashland resident, said the site is needed due to increased demand. The delta variant drove cases up over the summer, but there's evidence the wave may be subsiding.

"After hearing from numerous residents of Ashland and Framingham about the lack of accessible drive-thru testing in our region, I reached out to [Spilka] and the Department of Public Health in order to partner together in developing a new testing location," Lewis said in a news release.

The state-funded site will be run by Fallon Health. The site opens Oct. 4, and will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 to 11 a.m., and Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays from 2 to 7 p.m. Residents do not need to make an appointment to use the drive-thru site.
