According to MassDOT, preliminary findings indicate that the incident was superficial concrete debris that delaminated from a fascia beam and there are no major structural issues with the bridge.
When asked about the Pleasant Street bridges last inspection, MassDOT said maintenance crews routinely evaluate infrastructure including bridges and carry out any necessary repair operations. MassDOT added that it has inspections at least once every two years of all 5,000 bridges in the Commonwealth.
